Bones

Tutorial

During our tutorials we have learned several different techniques behind using 3Ds Max, to help create realistic animations. One of these techniques I will be using will be the use of Bones, which enables an object to move parts of its body, just like real bones do. I plan of using this of my model Space Slug, as I will need it to move around like a worm to make my animation come alive.
To show what sort of movement I need, I have once again viewed the scene, from the images below shows what I should make it look like.

Exercise from tutorial – Practice

1. First of all I have created a basic cylinder.

2. Along the top next click systems and then the option bones. I have created a row of them around the same length of the cylinder.

3. Next, I have moved the bones inside of the cylinder, directly in the middle of the shape. After that the cylinder shape has been modified, by clicking on modifier then scroll down the list until I find skin.

4. Under Skin I next clicked on Add Bones, then added all the bones that are shown.

5. By selecting the bones underneath the cylinder I can now move it about, almost like an arm.
