Creating the Space Slug

Step by Step

The first model I created was the main character of my animation production, the Space Slug. In the screenshots taken of my project I will explain how I came to make the model.

1. To begin with, I created the head and body of the creature using two shapes from the menu, a Tube shape for the body, and a sphere for the head. I then made the sphere an editable Polly, and stretched it down so the head was so longer completely circular. I made sure the two shapes were the same width so the head fitted on top of the tube perfectly.

2. Once I had done that, I had once again made the head an editable Polly to create the mouth. By dragging the dots at the south side of the top end (as shown in the picture below) it created a gap, which I would use for the mouth.

3.     Doing this made the mouth very rough and uneven. I carefully went around the entire mouth and, bit by bit, I evened out the mouth. It was a long progress but there was no other ordinate I could find to make the mouth suitable. I also used this technique to create little bumps around the slugs head and body.

4. Now I have finished straightening the mouth areas, I made the lower half of the mouth thicker so I could fit in the teeth.

5.        With the body and mouth complete, I only have to add the antenna’s at the side of the Space slugs head. I created these by using cone shapes.

6.       I created another antenna for the other side of the head, but I found out that I would not use it as I will explain later.

7.       Making the cone shape an editable Polly like the sphere earlier, I thinned the middle of the antenna and placed it at the side of the Slugs head.
